Dr. Md. Shakhawat H. Firoz is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He previously served as the Head of the Department of Chemistry and Provost of Sher-e Bangla Hall, BUET.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Firoz obtained his Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and earned his Doctor of Engineering degree from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout his professional career, Dr. Firoz has served in several prestigious academic and research institutions in Bangladesh and Japan. His previous appointments include Researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan; Scientific Officer at the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR); Assistant Professor at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology; and Assistant Professor at Jagannath University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His research focuses on the design and facile synthesis of nanostructured materials and nanocomposites for energy storage and wastewater treatment applications. His interests also extend to cellulose-based functional nanomaterials for biomedical applications and the study of thermophysical properties of materials. Dr. Firoz has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed research articles published in national and international journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to his research and teaching activities, Dr. Firoz has made significant contributions to academic administration and student affairs at BUET. He has served as Head of the Department of Chemistry, Assistant Provost of Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall, Secretary of the Board of Postgraduate Studies (BPGS), and Postgraduate Tabulator. He has also contributed as an expert member to various universities and government organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond academia, he is actively involved in social and community service initiatives. He served as General Secretary, and later as President of BUET Teachers\u2019 Club (PtoBiK). He has provided technical expertise on chemical-related issues during several national events and emergencies. His leadership in the \u201cHand Sanitizer Project\u201d during the COVID-19 pandemic stands out as a notable contribution to public welfare.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Dr. Md.
